Spring Songbirds

                         May 10th

Walk with us at Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve, a 25 acre Scenic natural beach on Lake Erie and a great site to view migrating birds. Extensive development along the shores of Lake Erie has all but totally eliminated the presence of sandy beaches from Sandusky to New York. Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve remains today as one of the last of its kind in the entire state.

Annual Grand River Canoe Cleanup

June 14th

We'll partner with Lake Metroparks, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources-Scenic Rivers, and the City of Painesville to help clean the river of trash by canoe.  We'll end the day with a cookout and great giveaways.

Pigtoes, Muckets, and Heelsplitters- OH MY

July 12th

Get your feet wet, as we survey and identify mussel species in Mill Creek on an 85 acre conserved property in Ashtabula County. Dr. Bob Krebs, Associate Professor of Biological, Geological & Environmental Sciences at Cleveland State University will lead us in our survey. The pristine water quality of the Grand provides exceptional habitat for a number of rare mussel species that can be found nowhere else in Northeast Ohio.
